Barcelona: The Ultimate 4-Day Itinerary

I am obsessed with Barcelona. The architecture, the cuisine, the weather, the history – it’s pure perfection. I embarked on a solo trip to Spain (and felt totally safe doing so btw) just before I made my way to the French Riviera. Let’s explore this vibrant city with the following 4-day itinerary:

Day 1:

I recommend start your first day in Barcelona with the city’s crown jewel: Sagrada Familia, which has been under construction since 1882(!). This stunning basilica, designed by the famous architect Antoni Gaudi, is a must-see. After admiring the architecture, head to Barcelona’s most luxurious avenue, Passeig de Gracia, a street lined with high-end shops and boutiques. Try lunch at El Nacional, a stunning food hall with a variety of cuisines to choose from. In the afternoon, explore the Gothic Quarter, a charming neighborhood with winding streets and hidden squares. End the day with dinner and drinks at Bar Marsella, a historic bar that was a favorite of artists such as Picasso and Hemingway.

Day 2:

On day two, you’ll love visiting Park Guell, another stunning creation of Gaudi. This colorful park is filled with whimsical architecture and offers stunning views of the city – it is memorable, to say the least! For lunch, head to La Boqueria, an iconic food market in the heart of Barcelona and then make your way to the Picasso Museum. End the day with dinner at Cal Pep, a popular seafood restaurant known for its delicious tapas.

Day 3:

Begin day three with a visit to the famous La Rambla, a bustling pedestrian street lined with shops, street performers, and cafes. For lunch, I suggest trying Quimet & Quimet, a tiny bar that serves delicious tapas and wine. After lunch, visit the stunning 13th century Gothic Cathedral and then take a stroll through the Park de la Ciutadella, a beautiful park that’s home to the Barcelona Zoo and the Catalan Parliament. End the day with dinner at Viana Barcelona, a stylish tapas spot.

Day 4:

On your final day in Barcelona, spent the day visiting the Montserrat Monastery, a stunning complex located in the mountains outside the city. This was easily one of my favorite parts of my trip. In the afternoon, explore the El Raval neighborhood, which has become a hub for street art and alternative culture. End your trip with dinner and drinks at Lasarte for great wine and a lovely meal.

Writing this is making me want to plan a return trip to Barcelona. It’s such a special city that’s filled with culture, history, and phenomenal food. With this four-day itinerary, enjoy a trip of a lifetime exploring some of the city’s most iconic attractions and experience its vibrant culture!
