48 Hours in Philadelphia

Welcome to Philadelphia, the birthplace of America and home to some of the most iconic U.S. landmarks! Planning a quick getaway to Philly? Here’s my 48-hour itinerary:

Day 1: Start your day with a hearty breakfast at Sabrina’s Cafe, known for their mouth-watering French toast and delicious omelets. From there, head to the Liberty Bell Center, where you can see the famous bell that symbolizes American independence. Next, stroll over to Independence Hall, where both the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution were signed.

After exploring Independence National Historical Park, grab a quick lunch at Reading Terminal Market. This bustling indoor market offers a variety of food options, including Philly cheesesteaks, pretzels, and hoagies.

In the afternoon, visit the Philadelphia Museum of Art, famous for its iconic “Rocky Steps” that were featured in the Rocky movies. The museum has an impressive collection of art from around the world and also offers breathtaking views of the city from its rooftop.

End your day with a trip with personal Philly favorite: the Philadelphia Magic Gardens. This immersive art installation covers half a city block and features mosaics made from a variety of materials, including glass bottles, bike wheels, and mirrors. The gardens are a true feast for the senses and offer a unique experience that is not to be missed.

Day 2: Start your day with a trip to the Philadelphia Zoo, one of the oldest and most beloved zoos in the country. The zoo is home to over 1,300 animals from around the world, including giant pandas, African lions, and western lowland gorillas.

For those of you with kiddos in tow, make sure you make time for Please Touch Museum, an interactive museum designed specifically for children. The museum features exhibits on science, art, and music and offers plenty of hands-on activities for kids of all ages.

For lunch, head to Federal Donuts, a local favorite known for their delicious chicken sandwiches and fresh-made donuts. After lunch, take a walk through Fairmount Park, one of the largest urban parks in the country. The park offers over 2,000 acres of green space, including miles of trails, playgrounds, and historic mansions.

End your day with a visit to the Franklin Institute, a world-renowned science museum. The museum features exhibits on a variety of topics, including space exploration, electricity, and the human body. Be sure to check out the walk-through heart exhibit and the planetarium before heading back to your hotel.

Whew! It’s an ambitious itinerary but so worth it if you want to take in Philadelphia’s impressive history, art, culture, and fun.
