Entertainment: Prairiefire Summer Music Series

Prairiefire Summer Music Series Overland Park

If you’re looking for live music and a lively atmosphere, you have got to attend the Prairiefire Summer Music Series. Every Thursday from 7-10 p.m., some of the Kansas City area’s greatest cover bands perform outside Pinstripes and Brass Onion in Prairiefire. Imagine enjoying a balmy summer evening with fantastic music and food from some of the best patios in OP. And here’s a fun fact worth noting: you can take your alcoholic drinks from any restaurant or bar into the street! So, grab a beverage, throw on those dancin’ shoes and make your way to Prairiefire on Thursday night!

Food: Cinzzetti's Italian Market

Cinzetti's Overland Park Kansas

For a taste of Italy in Overland Park, look no further than Cinzzetti’s Italian Market. This buffet-style Italian restaurant is beloved by locals for its rustic, Tuscan-style setting and a wide array of delicious dishes. Open for brunch, lunch, and dinner, Chinzzetti’s offers an experience akin to roaming through an Italian piazza, with 14 exhibition cooking stations where trained chefs prepare fresh food right before your eyes. Indulge in the flavors of various Italian regions and enjoy as many items as you like, as often as you like. This is such a fun culinary experience–and a must for my fellow Italian food lovers!

Shopping: The Tasteful Olive

For gourmet enthusiasts, The Tasteful Olive is a hidden gem in downtown Overland Park. This charming store offers over 60 varieties of fresh olive oils and naturally-flavored balsamic vinegars. But that’s just the beginning – you’ll also find a delightful selection of spices, sauces, olives, pastas, and more. Whether you’re a seasoned chef or simply love experimenting in the kitchen, The Tasteful Olive will inspire your culinary creativity. It’s also the perfect spot to find unique local gifts to bring back home with you!

Outdoors: Thomas S. Stoll Dog Park

Thomas Stoll Dog Park Overland Park Kansas

Spanning 80 acres, Thomas S. Stoll Memorial Park features a scenic walking trail, picnic shelters, playgrounds, a small pond, and seven athletic playing fields. However, the highlight for many is the seven-acre dog off-leash area, complete with a 1/3-acre section specifically for small dogs (25 pounds or under and/or 14 inches in height). It’s a wonderful place to let your furry babies run free and socialize while you enjoy the beautiful surroundings. The park is well-fenced and has ample parking, making it a convenient and enjoyable spot for both dogs and their owners. My pup, Josie, and I are regulars here!

Whether you’re in the mood for live music, delectable food, unique shopping, or outdoor adventures, these hidden gems promise to make your time in Overland Park unforgettable. What hidden gems in OP would you add to this list?
